'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the loose ball before charging toward the home end to celebrate, with fans congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory completed an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the second half. During the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result booked a upcoming match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that range," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right defensive wing after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the opposition who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they know how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across two seasons at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he departed Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that development for his team and nation, excelling for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including home and away fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This marks a remarkable path for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his parent, his father, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's only game for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to the weather of -15C. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I believed I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's so-called player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to spend time with the teammates but I'm planning to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. His teammate is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
