I'll overwhelm 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-bout match which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Joshua said he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the combatants met personally to build hype for the upcoming bout.

Ex two time unified heavyweight champion Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge mismatch - at Miami's venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I'm going to break his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to really want to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically famous for his showmanship - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather attacked ex Joshua rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian turned down a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, at the same time, took aim at British opponent Tyson Fury - and refused a large bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] is superior to Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mainly fought MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He lost to British fighter Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer continues to be one of boxing's largest money-making draws, regularly earning massive earnings.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old predicted a stoppage in round four or five and claimed he would derail the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is allegedly under discussion for 2026.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul said.

Size Difference

As both boxers met for the traditional face-off, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it drove home just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is truly happening.
